Raleigh, NC, November 17, 2017 --(PR.com)-- North Carolinians only have one month to enroll or re-enroll in quality, affordable health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The fifth open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) ends December 15. NC Get Covered provides tips on what North Carolinians need to know about the fifth ACA enrollment period.
During this open enrollment period, uninsured North Carolinians are able to select plans that fit their needs and budgets on the Marketplace. Here are five things North Carolinians need to know about the fifth ACA enrollment period:
1. The Affordable Care Act is still the law. Despite widespread confusion, the Affordable Care Act is still the law. North Carolinians still have the opportunity to enroll or reenroll in health coverage through the Marketplace.
2. There’s a shorter enrollment period. North Carolinians should not procrastinate. This year’s enrollment period has been cut in half. North Carolina residents only have until December 15 to choose individual health insurance plans for coverage in 2018.
3. Financial Assistance is available. Health insurance affordability continues to be a concern for many North Carolinians. The good news is that financial assistance is available to help people pay their monthly premiums, and to cover some out-of-pocket costs. In fact, 9 in 10 North Carolinians who picked a plan in the last open enrollment cycle received financial help to make their plans more affordable.
4. New plans and new prices are available: Plans and prices change every year. The open enrollment period is an opportunity for North Carolinians to select plans that meet their needs.
5. In-person enrollment assistance is available: Free in-person assisters are available throughout the state to help North Carolinians enroll or re-enroll. Call 1-855-733-3711 or visit ncnavigator.net to schedule an appointment. North Carolinians can also visit healthcare.gov to learn more about their options and shop for plans.
