Kinea Design Develops Sensorized Biomechatronic Technology for DARPA Revolutionizing Prosthetics 2009 Program

Posted By: Anonymous | Posted On: Dec 15,2009 18:30 pm | View: 6 Kinea Design, a research and engineering design firm specializing in Human Interactive Mechatronics, has developed new biomechatronic technology that will return feeling and function to arm amputees. The innovations are part of the multinational Revolutionizing Prosthetics 2009 (RP 2009) initiative sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). RP 2009 is developing an advanced electromechanical prosthesis that will mimic the sensory-motor capabilities of a natural hand and arm and enable intuitive, thought-controlled movement of an artificial limb. The work of Kinea Design and other RP 2009 collaborators will appear in the January 2010 issue of National Geographic in an article that examines the science and technology of embedded bionic devices.
